Billy Ray Patton, lovingly known to many as Bill, Dad, Paw, PeePaw, and Babe, passed away on March 14, 2026, at the age of 85. Bill was born on October 5, 1940, in Eastland, Texas, to Jim and Lucy (Purdom) Patton.

Bill was a longtime resident of Eastland and a man known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his trade. A skilled mechanic by profession, he founded Bill's Auto Salvage in 1968. Bill loved to work and took great pride in his craft. He remained active and working up until his final days, a true reflection of the hardworking man he was.

For 27 years, Bill courageously battled cancer, facing each challenge with the same grit and determination that defined the way he lived his life.

Bill shared 47 wonderful years with the love of his life, Carolyn Patton. Together they built a life centered around family, perseverance, and dedication.

He is survived by his children Rickey Patton; James Patton and wife Bebe; Scotty Arnold and partner Taunya; and Carrie Pierce and husband Shane.

Bill was the proud father of five children, twelve grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, with two additional great-grandchildren on the way, leaving behind a large and loving family who will continue his legacy. He is also survived by his siblings Verna McGehee, Eula West, and James Patton and wife Silkie.

He was preceded in death by his He was preceded in death by his daughter Vickie Smith; siblings JL Patton, Gene Patton, Howard Patton, and Wanda Roper, as well as his parents Jim and Lucy Patton.

In his spare time, Bill enjoyed hunting, watching the deer, and feeding the wildlife around his home-including foxes, deer, and even the red ants. He found simple joy in the outdoors and the land around him.

Bill will be remembered as a hardworking man who believed in providing for his family and putting in an honest day's work. His determination, grit, and love for those around him will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Billy Ray Patton's service will be held at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland on Friday, March 20th at 10 am with Randy Beggs officiating. Graveside service to follow at Eastland Cemetery, in the town where he was born and spent much of his life. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 19th from 5-7 pm at Edwards Funeral Home.
