Billye D (Lopez) Kent

Billye Kent (Lopez), 85, of Olden, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. A family visitation was held Sunday, June 7, with a private graveside service on Monday at Oakland Cemetery in Duster. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home - Eastland.

Billye was born in Ranger, Texas, on September 1, 1940, to Bill and Maudine McGee. Billye was a homemaker, a very talented piano player, and an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed reading, shopping, and sitting in her swing watching her cats play. She loved anything that involved her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Leroy Kent; her parents, Bill and Maudine McGee; her brother, James McGee; and her sister, Genevia Burgess.

She is survived by her daughters, Starr McGee, Shannon Brown and husband Clinton, Randa Lopez and husband Tomas, Shellye Truran and husband Jeff. Grandchildren Patrick Bromley (Melinda), Sammy Hendrix, Stevie Hendrix (Nancy), Selena Martell, Christopher Brown, Rainey Tucker (David), Marcus Lopez (Jennifer), Whitney Davidson (Adam) and Ryan Truran (Katie); 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

We were each blessed to have had this wonderful woman in our lives and she will be dearly missed by all.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert DeLuca, the staff at The Woodlands, Kamelia Williams, and Solaris Hospice for all their kindness and care of our mother. We miss you and will forever love you, Billye Geeg. Donations in her honor may be given to the Eastland Centennial Library
