Calfrieda Catt Escobedo

May 29, 1948 — April 5, 2026

Calfrieda "Bootie" Catt Escobedo was called Home on April 4, 2026. Bootie was born on May 5, 1948, in Cherokee, NC to Cornelia and David Catt. Bootie was a full-blooded member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. She belonged to the Yellowhill community and the Wild Potato clan.

She moved to Cisco after marrying into the Escobedo family. She raised 3 children and was employed by several different industries, such as the Vassarette and at Victor Cornelius. She was best known for her work as a cook. Bootie also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and helped friends as she could. In her early years she enjoyed playing softball, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Bootie lived life and enjoyed each day to the fullest. She enjoyed her time at home, loved puzzles, watching the Dallas Cowboys, watching game shows, shopping, but mostly, she loved spending time with her children, family and friends. Last, but not least, she loved her fur babies.

Bootie was blessed with a loving family and a circle of wonderful friends, who provided her with so much happiness and allowed her to enjoy life on her own terms. She always spoke so appreciatively and kindly of her family and friends.

Bootie is survived by her 3 children. Candy Baird and son-in-law Jeff of Flower Mound Texas, Ross (Poppy) Escobedo of Lincoln NE, Nikon Escobedo and dtr-in-law Leslie of Cisco. Her grandchildren Payton and Elvia Baird, Grayson Baird, Jackson Escobedo and Lexi Heintschel, Ariana Welch, Logan and Hayden Escobedo. A niece, Marion Littlejohn and a aunt, Sally Catt both of Cherokee NC. Other family include the Anaya, Pennington and Escobedo families.

Bootie spent her last day celebrating Easter with love all around her. The day was filled with smiles, laughter and hugs. On Easter Sunday Bootie was called Home. Oh, what a day to be called Home.

We hope that you will join us in a Celebration of Life service on Saturday April 25 at 11 am. The service will be held at the Woodbridge Church in Ranger, Texas.
