It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Chris Jonathan Martinez born to Santos Martinez Jr and Elaine Saunders on June 29, 1967, and died on July 10, 2026, in Ranger, Texas.
Chris was a tough cowboy, a father and a big brother who took care of each of us, protected us and had the biggest heart of us all. We will never forget you. You will be missed and loved always.
Chris J. Martinez was the father of Bennett Wright, Chris Martinez Jr, and Richard Martinez. He was proud of each of you.
Chris is preceded in death by his father Santos Martinez Jr., Aunt Josie Fuentes, Uncle Johnny Martinez, Aunt Margarita "Marge".
Chris was a native of Ranger and attended Ranger High School. He lived a solitary life but loved his family and pets dearly. He enjoyed hunting and living off the land. At his core, he was a very resourceful country boy his entire life and was "tough as nails."
Chris always enjoyed seeing his family. There was a great sense of happiness when he had visitors.
You will be missed.

Chris is survived by his sons Bennett Wright, Chris Martinez Jr, and Richard Martinez. Brothers Santos Martinez III and Israel Martinez (Marquisetta Martinez, sister -in-law), Sisters, Michelle Martinez, Francis D'anna Daughtery. He is also survived by his uncles: Felix and Nancy Martinez, Candelario Martinez Sr., Tommy Martinez, Bobby Martinez, Linda Bishop, Rickey and Denise Martinez. Nephews Austin & Ariel Martinez, Chris Meazell, Robert Everitt, Jason Garcia, and Spencer Reed. Nieces Larkin Martinez,
Crystal Everitt, and Shelby Reed. Numerous loving cousins that loved him dearly.
In his honor, A memorial service will be held on August 22, 2026, at 9:00 AM a rosary and at 10 AM a memorial service at Edwards Funeral Home in Ranger, Texas.
Family and Friends are invited to celebrate his life with those he loved.
In this time of mourning, we would like to take a moment to express our gratitude for the warm, heartfelt condolences we have received from family and friends. Your support means the world to us. May God be with you all and your families.
