Cynthia Anne Lightford

Aug 30, 1964 — Jul 3, 2026

Cynthia Anne "Cindy" Lightford, 61, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away on July 3, 2026.

Born on August 30, 1964, in El Campo, Texas, Cindy was the beloved daughter of Verlee Newman Cole and Clifford Cole. Raised in Dayton, Texas, Cindy developed a deep appreciation for nature and a passion for art that remained with her throughout her life.

Cindy was a gifted artist with a remarkable talent for creating beautiful artwork. She also possessed an impressive skill in archery, competing in archery competitions and enjoying bow hunting throughout her life. An avid hunter, she found peace in the outdoors and joy in the challenge of the hunt. She also loved spending time at the beach and found great happiness in growing flowers, taking pride in the beauty she created both in her gardens and through her artwork.

For five years, Cindy dedicated herself to serving others as a unit secretary at HCA Kingwood. She cared deeply about her work and the people around her. She will be remembered for her creativity, adventurous spirit, determination, and the stubbornness that was simply part of who she was. She also had a special love for her faithful dog, Calamity, who was a constant companion.

Above all, Cindy was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished her family. She is survived by her mother, Verlee Newman Cole; her children, John Blake Chambers and Lauren Dunlap; her son-in-law, Tyler Dunlap; her beloved grandson, Kase Dunlap; her brothers, Kevin Cole and his wife, Michelle, and Clint Cole; as well as many extended family members and loved ones who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Cole.

A private family service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home, 215 E. Housley Street, Strawn, Texas 76475. There will be no public viewing.

May those who knew Cindy remember her whenever they see a beautiful garden in bloom, spend a quiet day outdoors, feel the sand beneath their feet, or create something with their own hands. Her adventurous spirit and creative heart will be remembered always.

"For everything there is a season,

and a time for every activity under heaven.

A time to be born and a time to die.

A time to plant and a time to harvest."
