Daryl Cozart

Daryl Cozart passed away August 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service to his country and his community.

From December 1985 to September 1992, Daryl proudly served in the United States Navy as an Imagery Analyst. During his military career, he was stationed at NAS Brunswick (Maine), Rota (Spain), Reykjavik (Iceland), and London (England). Most notably, during Operations Desert Storm, Shield, and Freedom, he served on General H. Norman Schwarzkopf's staff in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Following his honorable discharge, Daryl pursued a career in law enforcement. He graduated from the police academy at Tarleton University and served as the police chief in Rising Star, Texas. Later, managed a juvenile boys home outside of Rising Star until he transitioned to emergency communications, working in the Eastland County dispatch office for nearly a decade.

For many years he spent his weekends working as a volunteer at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg and was an avid World War II historian, focusing on the War in the Pacific.

Daryl is survived by his son, Nykolai Knack; his mother, Janice Cozart; his sister, Helen Cozart; and numerous lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Cozart, who passed away in January 2021.

At this time, there are no plans for a service. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home Eastland.
