Donald (Don) Ray Baird, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on November 28, 1940, in Abilene, TX to Vernon and Frances Alene (Taylor) Baird, Don's life was one of remarkable experiences and cherished moments. He grew up across the country, ultimately graduating from Scranton High School.

In a loving union that would span decades, Don married the love of his life, Wanda Thomas, on July 15, 1951 in Olden, TX. Together, they cultivated a warm, welcoming home in Eastland, Texas, where their family thrived. Don's commitment to his faith was evident through his deep involvement with Harmony Baptist Church in Morton Valley, where he forged lasting friendships and found great joy in his church community.

Known for his infectious spirit and remarkable talent, Don entertained others with his magic tricks, captivating audiences young and old alike. He also took pride in his woodworking skills, creating beautiful pieces that reflected his careful craftsmanship. Whether cheering for his children and grandchildren at sporting events or enjoying a classic Western film-especially those starring John Wayne or Robert Duvall-Donald embraced life with an enthusiasm that was truly admirable.

Don's departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of those he loved. He is survived by his devoted wife, Wanda Baird of Eastland; his son, Jeff Baird, and wife, Candy, of Flower Mound; four cherished grandchildren, Payton Baird and wife, Elvia, Grayson Baird, Randall Walker and wife, Lindsey, and Ashley Guerrero and husband, Jacey; and four adoring great-grandchildren, Summer Guerrero, Caroline, Elizabeth, and Arabella Walker. His memory will also be honored by his three sisters, Frances Hays of Temple, Linda House and husband, Don, of Weatherford, and Hymonda Collins and husband, Terry, of Hockley; his brother, Joe Baird and wife, Vonda, of Cisco; sister-in-law Glenda Baird of Weatherford; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry his spirit forward.

Funeral services for Don will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Edwards Funeral Home-Eastland, with Bro. Glenn Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Eastland City Cemetery. A visitation will take place on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers who will honor Don with their presence include Scott Terrell, Scott Payne, Glenn Nevill, Robert Hill, Curtis Govan, Dash Spruill and Pete Veros. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Martin and Gary Thomas.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Frances Alene Baird; daughter, Donna Gregg; brothers, Jessie Baird and Clayton Baird and three sisters, Carol Newson, Bonnie Pickens and Vernice Hunt-Bloedau
