Dwain U. Sherrin

April 5, 1939 — June 6, 2025

Dwain Udell Sherrin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on April 5, 1939, in Arrey, New Mexico, to Norbin Rufus and Maudie (Blakely) Sherrin. He passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Dwain proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, dedicating himself to the service of his country until his honorable discharge in 1969 at the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His life was a tapestry of diverse experiences and vocations, including work on offshore oil rigs, as an electrician, and a truck driver. He was versatile and resourceful, known as a Jack-of-all-trades who could fix anything that crossed his path.

A lifelong member of the Dublin Masonic Lodge #504 AF & AM, Dwain found joy in community and camaraderie, relishing coffee gatherings and lodge events. His passions extended beyond work: he loved reloading ammunition, shooting, fishing, and hunting. A talented musician and songwriter, he could play nearly any instrument but found his deepest joy in the steel guitar, guitar, and fiddle. His voice resonated with warmth, and he often shared his musical talents with family and friends.

Dwain was a family man at heart, treasuring the time spent with his loved ones, particularly his grandchildren. He was known for his friendly demeanor, his love for animals-always accompanied by a lap dog-and his lively debates about politics, often while watching Fox News.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce Sherrin of Dublin, TX, alongside a loving family that includes his children: Karla Draper and husband Michael of Crosby, TX, Kim Cupps of Brownwood, TX, Jodi Prewitt of The Woodlands, TX, Gerald Wright and wife Sherry of Paradise, TX, Stephanie Elms and husband Chad of Stephenville, TX, Dainen Sherrin and wife Marcia of Brownwood, TX, Kacie Brooks and husband Cody of Grandview, TX. Dwain's legacy continues through his 14 grandchildren, Paige, Jason, Ryan, Danielle, Sherri, Kassie, Tiffni, Chase, Autumn, Jessie, Gabe, Karen, Kevin and Rendyn. Numerous great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, along with his sisters Pat Wright and husband Cecil, Joyce Harrison and husband Jerry, and countless nieces and nephews.

Dwain was preceded in death by his father, Norbin Sherrin; mother, Maudie Jenkins; three sons, Travis Denver Sherrin, Kyle Blakely Sherrin, and Kevin Dwain Sherrin; sister, Nancy Covey; and grandson, Justin Dwain Sherrin.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Brad Cemetery, with Richie House officiating. Dwain's family invites all who knew and loved him to join in celebrating his life, sharing stories, and reflecting on the many ways he touched their lives. As we remember Dwain, we honor a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and will be profoundly missed.
