Harris Russell (Pete) Tibbels, 87 of Ranger, passed away peacefully Tuesday December 2, 2025 in Abilene, Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6th at First Baptist Church in Ranger with Ronny Guess officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 5th, 4~6 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Ranger.

He was born on December 20, 1937 in Ranger to Fred Tibbels and Jewel Smith Tibbels. He lived in Ranger, Tx for the first 19 years of his life. He attended Ranger school's grades 1-12 graduating class of 1956. After attending 1 semester of Ranger Jr. College, he went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1956. He retired in 2002 after 46 years with "Ma Bell".

He was a member of the Jaycee's for many years. He served in the National Guard for several years and was called up during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He married Kay King February 14, 1958. They had 3 children, Alan, class of 1978, Scott, class of 1978, and Donna, class of 1982. He has 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sandra Welch.

He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Tibbels; his parents; and 3 brothers and 1 sister.
