Jack Blackwell

Jack Blackwell passed away peacefully October 15, 2025 in Eastland, TX.

Jack was born April 2, 1939 in Gorman, Texas to Curtis Blackwell and Polly Nerger

Blackwell (Martin). He graduated from Ranger High School, Class of 1957. In 1967 he

moved to Iowa while working for Fina Oil Co. and in 1974 opened Blackwell Tires in

Ottumwa, Iowa. His son Curtis took ownership of the business when Jack retired.

Thru out his life Jack always supported the Junior College athletic teams of Iowa and Ranger

and was inducted into the Indian Hill Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016 as a lifetime

contributor. He loved his hometown of Ranger, was a great storyteller and supported the

ongoing restoration of the town. He lived his life to the fullest and was a social butterfly,

enjoyed playing golf and flying his plane in his spare time. He was preceded in death by his

parents, his wife Lynne and his sons Curtis and Steven.

He is survived by his daughter Debbie (LaDale); 6 Grandchildren - April (Ken) and De

(Dallas, TX), Samantha & Jaclyn (Bloomfield, IA), Ashlie & Kole (Mt. Vernon, IA); 6 great

grandchildren; Brother-in-Law Steven (Sonia) and his family (Jeremy, Lara and Trevor).

Several cousins and a host of dear friends in Ottumwa and Ranger.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to the staff at The Woodlands and Solaris

Hospice team that cared for Jack.

Funeral services for Jack will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 10:30am at Edwards Funeral Home - Ranger with Ronny Guess officiating. Interment will follow at Crossroads Cemetery in Ranger. A visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the funeral service starting at 10:00am. 

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local Junior College or attend a game.
