He served as a proud veteran of the United States Navy, graduated from Hobbs High School (Eagles for life!). Jimmy Don served the New Mexico National Guard before going into active duty. His first duty was the NAS Barbers Point Hawaii on the USS. Shangri-La. Jimmy Don served on many ships in Vietnam, short duty in Oklahoma and many stations elsewhere.
After retirement, Jimmy Don served as a volunteer fireman and EMT, a chaplain at the Knolles Fire Department in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Anywhere Jimmy Don was asked to serve, he would find his true love serving Jesus Christ. He worked any and everywhere the Lord called him. He pastored many missions. He worked with the youth, young married, would serve as a janitor, carpenter, roofer, and would even lead the singing if he was needed.
Jimmy Don leaves behind his loving wife, Londa Hudgins; his sisters, Alberthia Mae Campbell, Etta Pearl Arnspiger; his brother, Weldon Gene Hudgins, and is preceded in death by his brother Horace Arvid Hudgins
Jimmy has 14 children and stepchildren, numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren, even ones that were not blood kin, but it doesn't matter the count, because all of them called him dad or granddad
