Leopoldo Rodriguez Gaeta passed from this life on October 2, 2026, in his home surrounded by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 8th, at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland
Leo, as most knew him, was born in Eastland, Texas on February 16, 1955. He was the son to Gil R. Gaeta Sr. and Amelia "Mollie" Rodriguez Gaeta; and brother to Arthur Wayne Gaeta. He was a resident in Eastland, Texas almost all his life, and he attended Eastland High School where he graduated in 1973.
He first started working at Ruben's Gulf Station in Eastland at 17. He was then hired on by Texas Electric, later known as TXU, when he was 18 years old as a groundsman. He worked his way up to a 1st Class Lineman and retired from the company as a General Foreman Lineman after 38 years of service.
Leo said that he liked fishing, but he really loved hunting and good ole' beer drinking and telling life stories. He said that his greatest accomplishments in life were being married to Margaret Gaeta for 54 years, and for the life of his children, Michael Paul Gaeta and Lisa Marie Gaeta, his pride and joy.
Leo was preceded in death by his father, Gil Gaeta Sr., his mother Amelia Rodriguez Gaeta, father-in-law, Pedro Deleon Sr., mother-in-law, Felipa Deleon, cousin/best friend Grabiel Rodriguez, Ezekiel Rodriguez, and uncle, Johnny Rodriguez.
Leo is survived by his wife, Margaret L. Gaeta, son, Michael P. Gaeta (Athena M. Gaeta); daughter, Lisa Gaeta; brother, Arthur W. Gaeta and wife Cathy J. Gaeta; sister-in-law, Rita Sustaita (Richard Sustaita); brother-in-law, Pedro Deleon Jr. (Brenda Deleon); sister-in-law, Angie Guidry (Randy Guidry); grandchildren, Guadalupe, Isaiah, Elijiah (Jaylon), Josiah, Akaylah (Isaiah), and Henry Charles; great granddaughter Evelyn, Mae Gaeta (Christiana) who he adored; along with numerous nieces and nephews and longtime friends who enriched his life while he was here with us.
