It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lona "Belle" Daniels English, age 87, of Ranger, Texas, who departed this life on July 30, 2025. A cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, Belle will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Born on February 21, 1938, in Gorman, Texas, Belle was the daughter of A.W. Shugart and Emma Woodall Shugart. She spent her formative years on a farm, where she embraced the joys of country life and cultivated a strong work ethic. Lona had a successful career in banking, where she proudly served her community and made lasting friendships.
Belle had a love for travel, a passion for reading, and never missed an opportunity to watch her favorite game show, Wheel of Fortune. She remained actively involved in her faith, attending the Mesquite and Rusk Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Lee Daniels, her daughter, Gwen Branscum and seven siblings. Belle is survived by her ex-husband, Connie Mac English; her daughter, Brenda Hill and her husband Danny of Fort Worth; her son, Clinton English of San Francisco, California; and her three cherished granddaughters, Amanda Hein of Fort Worth, Ashley Oliphant and her husband Matt of Fort Worth, and Angela Harrell of Argyle. In addition, she leaves behind nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate her life, share stories, and offer their reverence for a woman who truly touched the lives of many.
In this time of grief, we remember Belle for her witty sense of humor, smart intellect, and generous nature. She was never shy to a stranger and always had a story to tell. Rest in peace Grandma Belle.
