Margaret Scott

Margaret Pirl Hook Scott Margaret Pirl Hook Scott, 89, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026.

Margaret was born on April 29, 1937, in Tom Green County, Texas, to Joseph Daniel (J. D.) Hook and Sarah Dollie Poss Hook. She married Donald (Don) Allen Scott on July 28, 1960, at the Chapel on the Hill in San Angelo. Together they had five (5) children.

She attended school in Fort Stockton and San Angelo and obtained her B.S. in Education from Angelo State University. Margaret retired from General Telephone Company of the Southwest in 1988 after 29 years of service and went on to teach first grade at Santa Rita Elementary in San Angelo before she and Don moved to Eastland County.

Margaret was baptized in 1950, by Mickey Blake at Fairground Road Church of Christ in San Angelo. Upon moving to Eastland County, she became a member of Daughtery Street Church of Christ where she taught Bible class for several years. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi, as well as Texas Retired Teachers' Association. She was a member of Thursday Afternoon Club and Community Bible Study and volunteered for CASA, Eastland Central Memorial Library, and Dorcus.

Margaret especially enjoyed church work, serving on the Child Welfare Board and the Women's Community Clubhouse Board, playing bridge, gardening, and art. She and Don treasured time with friends playing 42 and 84.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Don; her children, Rene' Allen (Mike) of Wichita Falls, Texas, Donna Dierschke of San Angelo, Texas, Teresa Steinbrunner (David) of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, and Don Edward Scott (Melva) of North Richland Hills, Texas; her grandchildren, Jason Hunnicutt of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Kayla Smith (Mark) of Arlington, Texas, Seth Barkley of Austin, Texas, Lauren Monroe (Sheldon) of Wichita Falls, Texas, Wesley Carmichael (Mandy) of New York, New York, Austin Scott (Kelly) of Fort Worth, Texas, Cody Scott of Buffalo Gap, Texas, and Dustin Dierschke (Ashley) of Wall, Texas; and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Edith Lannom (John) of Fort Stockton, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Willie Griffin and Dollie Jones; and her son, Jesse Allen Scott.

A graveside service will be held on September 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Eastland City Cemetery with Barrett Thomasson officiating. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home - Eastland.
