It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mario Garcia Hernandez, who departed this life on May 6, 2026, at the age of 70. Mario was born on April 2, 1956, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and strength that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.
Mario was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Ofelia Hernandez. Their bond, forged through fifty years of companionship and mutual support, was a testament to the beauty of love and partnership. Together, they shared countless cherished memories that will continue to inspire all who knew them. As we honor Mario's life, we invite friends and family to join us in a celebration of his spirit and contributions. Funeral services will be held on Saturday the 9th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where we will gather to reflect on his life and the joy he brought to all those around him. A memorial ceremony will follow, providing an opportunity for those who knew Mario to share their stories and express their condolences.
In this time of mourning, let us also remember the light that Mario brought into our lives. His kindness, laughter, and unwavering support will be sorely missed. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by love and the memories of those he held dear.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Ofelia Hernandez , daughters Amy (Larry) McNew and Jessica (Armando) Amaro all of Kermit. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Adrianna Olivas, Izabela Amaro, Yaritza Amaro, Jesse Soltero, Joaquin Amaro, Santiago Amaro, Chris Gallardo, Jordan McNew, and McKenzie McNew all of Kermit; his brothers Robert (Olga) Hernandez and Arnulfo (Ana) Hernandez of Eastland ; sisters Alicia Lujan of Andrews, Sabina (Jose) Sanchez and Magdalena Hernandez of Eastland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Magdalena (Andres) Hernandez, his brother Andres Jr. Hernandez, nephew Felix Hernandez and grandson Roy Adrian Olivas.
