Martha Louise Burns (Duggan)
With a life full of love and laughter, Martha Louise Burns, of Eastland, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the age of 85. Martha was just one month shy of her 86th birthday, but sadly succumbed to her battle with dementia while under the care and supervision of Solaris Hospice at The Woodlands of Eastland County, Texas.
Martha Louise Burns was born on December 15, 1939, in Ranger, Texas to James Robert Duggan and Myrtle Sharp Duggan of Rising Star, Texas. Martha attended school in Rising Star, Texas where she participated in the band, cheerleading and sports. Martha graduated salutatorian of Rising Star High School in May of 1958.
Martha married her high school sweetheart, C.W. Butler, on May 24, 1958. Together they traveled to various cities while he worked in the oilfield. While this was a little scary for her being so far away from her family, she adapted well and they enjoyed 23 years together. They had two daughters, together and a baby boy in which she sadly lost in May of 1964. Martha moved to Eastland in October of 1985, following the death of her second husband, Carrol Burns.
Martha was a devoted member of Daugherty Street Church of Christ in Eastland, where she loved and enjoyed dedicating her time. She opened her home to many gatherings and parties for her friends, family and church family; especially hosting the Secret Prayer Sisters meeting for fellowship, food and lots of laughter.
Martha is survived by her two daughters; Kimberly Jill Connally and husband, Don of Aledo, Texas and Tamala Beth Carter of Abilene, Texas. She is also survived by her siblings, Jettie Sue Butler of Abilene, Texas, Linda Kay Nichols of Wichita Falls, Texas and Gary Dale Duggan of Hawley Texas, and six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, two sisters and five brothers.
The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Solaris Hospice caregivers, particularly Kamelia and Blatiney for their exceptional compassion and care as well as the entire Woodlands staff.

Martha's services are under the care of Edwards Funeral Home - Eastland. The Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 10:00 till 11:30 AM at Edwards Funeral Home - Eastland and the graveside service will be at Rising Star Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
Martha was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
