Paul Flinn

March 23, 1932 — May 1, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Martin Flinn, who departed this life peacefully on May 1, 2025, in Weatherford, Texas. Born on March 23, 1932, in Strawn, Texas, Paul lived a life rich in history, love, and dedication, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.

A proud graduate of Strawn ISD, Paul embraced the spirit of the West, growing up as a cowboy on ranches across Strawn and West Texas. He honorably served in the United States Army for three years, with the Sixth Armored Division at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. His service to his country was a profound source of pride for him.

On June 29, 1957, Paul married the love of his life, Lydia Faye Houston. Together, they built a home in White Settlement, where Paul forged a successful career as a commercial construction superintendent. His expertise and leadership were instrumental in overseeing numerous projects throughout North Texas and Oklahoma, a path illuminated by a family's deep-rooted connection to the construction industry. Paul's great-grandfather, William, was celebrated as the most successful suspension bridge builder of the 19th century, with his father also leaving a lasting mark as a carpenter.

Paul's life was marked by memorable moments, from being featured in several Family Handyman magazines as a model for Skilsaw Power Tools to being the first person to walk through the doors of Trio on its opening night. He shared a passion for dancing and traveling with Faye, creating countless memories, especially during their visits to Ruidoso to watch the horse's race. After Faye's passing, Paul continued to embrace life, traveling and sharing joyful moments on the dance floor with his dear friend, Juanita Shannon.

Paul is survived by his son Martin Flinn and daughter-in-law Sandra, along with his grandchildren: Cody (Stacy), and Charlee (Brett) Robinson, as well as great-granddaughter Kody and great-grandsons Van and Dean. He is also survived by his daughter Rhonda (Peter) Wiltse, granddaughters Heather (Zachary Romans), Erica Harvey, and grandson Houston Harvey, along with great-grandchildren Bo and Bailey Buegeler and Ryan Romans; sister, Patty (Jack) Rowland; brothers, Richard (Judy) Flinn, and Tim Flinn; and several nieces and nephews. His caregivers, Laura Kalbas and Maddison Davis, held a special place in his heart, providing love and support in his later years.

Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife Faye, his parents, and his brother Joe Flinn.

The family will honor his memory with a public viewing at Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn on May 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM. Paul will be laid to rest at Davidson Cemetery.

As we gather to celebrate his remarkable life, let us carry forward the values Paul instilled in us - love, hard work, and the importance of family. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
