It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raul Lopez, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend. Raul was born on August 21, 1959, in Shelby, Michigan to Isabel and Tomasa (Garcia) Lopez, and he peacefully left us on May 19, 2025, in Strawn, TX, at the age of 65 due to natural causes.
Raul was a dedicated handyman who poured his heart and soul into carpentry, always taking pride in a job well done. He was the guy you could count on for just about anything - whether it was fixing a leaky faucet or lending a hand when someone was in need. He truly embodied the spirit of community, always willing to help anyone, no matter the task at hand.
Family was everything to Raul. He found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren. He loved watching them play sports and cheering them on from the sidelines, his pride shining through with every game they played.
A Celebration of Life will be hosted by the family on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Pavilion in Strawn.
Survivors include two daughters, Jessica Mallory and husband, Matthew, of Strawn, and Sona Nunez and husband, Christopher, of Strawn; a son, Travis Lopez of Mingus; five grandchildren, Jocelyn, Kaison, Carter, Sophie, and July; a brother, Ector Lopez of New Era, Michigan; four sisters, Alicia Ayala of Donna, Elva Zuniga and husband, Carlos, of Weslaco, Corina Barco and husband, Estevan of Elsa, and Lisa Marin of Strawn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isabel and Tomasa Lopez; and two brothers, Alfredo Lopez and Arturo Lopez.
Raul will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his warm spirit and selfless nature will remain in our hearts forever.
