Rhonda Darlene (Carlton) Johnson, born on August 8, 1955, in Gorman, Texas, to Bobby Jack and Rosetta (White) Carlton, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025. She lived a life marked by love, creativity, and a deep devotion to her family and faith.
Rhonda married her beloved husband, Kenneth Johnson, on December 14, 1973, in Carbon, Texas, beginning a partnership that would span over five decades. Together, they created a warm and nurturing home in Eastland, where Rhonda's passions flourished. A member of Mangum Baptist Church.
Rhonda's creative spirit shone through in everything she did-whether she was reading her favorite books, drawing, painting, or crafting beautiful jewelry, her talents were a source of joy for those around her. She took great pride in her flower gardens, which echoed her vibrant personality and love for nature. Above all, it was the family gatherings that brought her the most happiness-she cherished every moment spent with her sons and their families.
Rhonda is survived by her devoted husband, Kenneth Johnson; her three sons, Jody Johnson and his companion, Deanna Clark, of Gorman; Jason Johnson and his wife, Cristy, of Santo; and Justin Johnson of Eastland. She leaves behind seven adoring grandchildren-Brylee, Paisleigh, Geneva, Abby, Emma, Blake, and Paige-and one great-granddaughter, Oaklynn. Rhonda's legacy of love will also be cherished by her mother, Rosetta Carlton; her brothers, Darrell and Jerry Carlton; her sister, Gwen Carlton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Jack Carlton, and a brother, Bobby Carlton.
Rhonda's life will be honored during a graveside service to be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Flatwood Cemetery, where she will be laid. The service will be officiated by Weldon Branham. Before this, an opportunity to share memories will be available during visitation on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland.
Pallbearers will include Kris Carlton, B.J. Carlton, Trent Edwards, Darren Sadler, Benny Kilpatrick, and Mark Blaylock, who will honor her memory and legacy.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Jack Carlton and brother, Bobby Carlton.
