Robert Hugh Harvey

Robert Hugh Harvey was born in 1934 in Shamrock, Texas, and departed this life and took his final flight on August 23, 2026 in Eastland, TX.

Bob (also known as PeePaw and Papa Bob) was truly a man of many talents, but more than that, he was someone people could count on...always quick with a joke, a prayer, a smile, or a solution to a problem.

He met the love of his life, Ellen, while attending Green Lane Bible Institute, and they married in 1955. Bob was drafted into the US Army, and served as a Chaplain's Assistant in Okinawa, Japan. He returned to the US and continued to serve as a church minister in Maine, Pennsylvania, Missouri, and Texas. He was ordained first in the Assemblies of God Church, and later in the Baptist Church.

In addition to serving the Lord through his ministry, he enjoyed a successful career in the construction industry and loved nothing more than building things-seeing them progress from a plan to fruition.

He was a wonderful gospel singer and musician, enthusiastically playing guitar, trombone and piano. He was also a commercial and instrument-rated pilot, and the proud owner of two treasured airplanes.

In the 1980s, Bob took up photography, a craft at which he excelled and enjoyed for many years. He was also a gifted home chef, delighting, family, friends, and parishioners with his brisket, homemade sausage, pizzas, and jalapeño cheddar biscuits. He also loved animals, especially dogs.

Bob leaves behind a tremendous number of friends and family who loved him and whose lives were touched by his, both in Texas and in Georgia, where he spent his final years.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Ellen, and his daughter, Rachel. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Harvey, his son, Randy and wife Ange, his granddaughter, Andrea, and her husband, Daniel, and his great-grandson Colton. Bob was also survived by Virginia's extensive family including children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A special thank you to Karen Fegely and her husband, Garry, whom Bob shared a special relationship with, and who showed him endless love and compassion during his final chapter of life.

His family would also like to thank Solaris hospice for their unwavering attention and kind compassion.

A committal service with United States Army Honors to be held on September 4th, 2026 at 11 A.M., at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
