Wayne Allen Marshall, a cherished soul and beloved friend, will leave an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Born on March 25, 1940, in Lubbock, TX, Wayne's journey through life came to a peaceful close on May 29, 2026, at the age of 86. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Wayne demonstrated unwavering courage and commitment during his service from August 25, 1962, to February 24, 1963.
Wayne was united in marriage to Cheryl Yielding on March 21, 1975, sharing a bond of love and adventure until her passing on May 28, 2020. Together, they explored life's joys, from their travels to cherished moments at home. His faith in the Church of Christ provided guiding strength throughout his life.
A welder by trade, Wayne dedicated numerous years to pipeline welding, skillfully crafting a legacy of craftsmanship that helped shape the infrastructure around him. In his quieter moments, he reveled in the beauty of nature through fishing and hunting, finding thrill in target shooting and the mastery of remote-control cars, boats, and airplanes. As a devoted member of the Olden Volunteer Fire Department, Wayne exemplified selflessness and community spirit, serving with pride until his retirement.
Wayne leaves behind his son, Erick Wayne Marshall of Denver, CO, and his nephew, James Vessels, and wife Debra from Odessa, TX. He will also be remembered fondly by good friends and caretakers Dewayne and Julia Hunter, Elaine Hale, and a host of extended friends and neighbors.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lenelle Marshall, and his beloved wife, Cheryl.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Eastland City Cemetery, officiated by Robert Farrel. A visitation will take place one hour prior, beginning at 10:00 A.M. at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Wayne's remarkable life and the memories that will forever warm their hearts.
