Carson McGough

December 2, 1950 — October 28, 2025

It is with both heavy hearts and joyful memories that we announce the passing of Woodrow Carson McGough, Jr., who left this world on October 28, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on December 2, 1950, in Monahans, TX, Carson was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was the son of Ruby Earl (Nabors) and Woodrow Carson McGough, Sr.

Carson served his country during the Vietnam Conflict as a proud member of the United States Army. He was awarded 28 air metals for individual actions and combat and the Distinguished Flying Cross, exemplifying an act of "heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight."

Carson learned the art of machining from Bill Smith Company in Odessa, TX and the majority of his career was dedicated to programming in the machining industry, working for companies such as Eba Iron, General Dynamics, and FMC Technologies. He was known to be able to keep machines running when technology failed.

On March 28, 1989, Carson wed the love of his life, Patricia Dempsey, in Eastland, TX.

Carson was an outdoorsman at heart; he reveled in fishing, hunting, and exploring the beauty of McGough Springs, the family ranch just outside of Eastland. His passion for the land and the cattle brought him immense joy, and he took pride in sharing these experiences with his family.

He had a knack for fun, delighting his grandchildren with rides in the chariot he built for his ATV. His mornings were often spent fishing until Patricia would call him in for breakfast with a playful shot from his .22, ensuring he was never late for a meal.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Patricia McGough of Eastland and daughter, Tara Dempsey-McGough of Abilene, children Jennifer (McGough) Grandpre and husband Zac of Livingston, Montana, and William McGough and wife Mandy of Ft. Worth and their mother, Ginger Fisher McGough; and ten cherished grandchildren, Peyton Aldarondo, Riah (Grandpre) Murie, Aubrielle Grandpre, Emery, Lillian, Aislyn, and Carsyn McGough, Tucker and Tuesday Allman, and Briana Tindle. Carson is also survived by his dear sister-in-law, Sammie Massey.

Carson was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Carson McGough, Sr. and Ruby McGough; daughter, Linda Allman; two sisters, Glynn (McGough) Hughes and Billie Sue (McGough) Heintschel; and a brother, Richard Massey.

In honor of Carson's remarkable life, the family will hold a private memorial service where they can celebrate his spirit, love, and the cherished moments they shared. Details regarding these ceremonies will be announced at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home - Eastland.
